About the Author
Peter Hess

Peter David Hess was born December 27, 1939 in Frederick, Maryland. Upon graduating high school, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, most of which was on the South Pacific Island, Okinawa. There he worked in the field of military intelligence. After fulfilling his service requirement, Hess spent the next fifteen years traveling the country before settling, once again, in Frederick to raise his burgeoning family. Although he would not write his first novel for years, his military and travel experiences flavor his writing.

Hess' devotion to Christianity and his interest in Jewish history inspired the creation of THREE DAYS OF DARKNESS. He drew on his military experience to jumpstart his next books, the Gohan Thriller Series. This line of books follows the life of an unlikely war hero and rogue CIA agent, David "Gohan" Rice, who chooses to leave his life of excitement to serve God as a missionary. While traveling the globe in that vocation, he becomes a magnet for trouble, intrigue, and terror, from which he needs all his military guile and experience and the faithful hand of God to extricate him.

Hess contracted pancreatic cancer in February, 2005 and, though he was expected to live no more than a few months, God miraculously intervened. He was given up for dead four times during the following three years, and each time was miraculously kept alive by the Lord. In January, 2008, a final CT-Scan showed that the cancer had miraculously disappeared. He is now completely cancer-free. Hess has, during this time, written a series of Christian non-fiction books centering on the power and goodness of God and the need for Christians to abandon themselves completely to Him.

Peter is married to Rita Skarbonkiewicz Hess, his wife of 39 years. They have four children, Brett, Tim, Jennifer and Heather, and are the blessed grandparents of fifteen young Hess, Beers and Martin grandchildren.

Peter and Rita are long-time members of New Life Foursquare Church in Frederick. Along with his son, Brett, Peter owns a number of business enterprises in Frederick. He is currently semi-retired and devotes most of his time to writing and Christian ministry.
